The Fugascine of Nonio are handmade butter biscuits originating from the village of the same name, overlooking the romantic Lake Orta.
Thin and square in shape, they are made from shortcrust pastry and are characterised by their golden colour, crisp texture and rich buttery flavour, accompanied by a delicate lemon aroma.
Their history dates back to at least the mid-19th century and, over time, they have become one of the most iconic sweets of the Cusio region.
They are ideal for breakfast or as a snack, served with tea, coffee or hot chocolate.Enjoy them with jams and marmalades spread on top, or paired with chocolate, hazelnut or gianduia creams.Also delicious served with zabaglione and other spoonable creams.
Type 00 flour, butter, sugar, eggs, lemon.
Store in a dry place away from heat sources.Once the packet has been opened, we recommend storing the biscuits in suitable tins to preserve their flavour.
