Villa Horta is a Colline Novaresi DOC wine produced entirely from Vespolina grapes, a native grape variety of the Novara area also known in Ghemme as Ughetta.
The name Villa Horta reflects the historic link between Ghemme and Lake Orta, evoking the ancient village of Orta and the tradition of the Canons of San Giulio, who, as far back as the 13th century, were making wine in the islandβs cellars from grapes grown in their own vineyards in Ghemme.
The grapes come from vineyards situated at altitudes of between 280 and 310 metres, on morainic, gravelly and mineral-rich soils.Following the harvest in late September, the bunches are destemmed without being crushed.Temperature-controlled vinification and early racking help to preserve the Vespolinaβs more delicate character. The wine is then aged in stainless steel and in the bottle, retaining its freshness, smoothness and floral notes.
Alcohol content: 13% vol.
